This meant a trip along the Central del Norte Road, now known as Carrera 7a, which was the main road out of Bogotá. In pre-Hispanic times, the Muisca natives inhabited the area, and some caciques, with the approval of the zipa (the lord of Bacatá), were granted the honorary title of Usaquén, giving the neighborhood and gastronomic area its name.
