Composed in 1692 by Henry Purcell, with an anonymous libretto inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, this Baroque opera was hidden for centuries until its rediscovery in the 20th century. In this presentation, the French foundation Les Arts Florissants—renowned for promoting Baroque music and culture—offers a semi-staged production where dance, text, and music come together to revive this iconic masterpiece of European music.
Under the direction of William Christie, the performance features young singers from Le Jardin des Voix, the training academy of Les Arts Florissants, alongside dancers from Compagnie Käfig. Mourad Merzouki, a leading figure of the hip-hop scene since the early 1990s, has choreographed and directed the show.
This event is part of the Bogotá International Sacred Music Festival.
