Programming with Stars: Python and Astronomy

In this virtual course, we will explore programming from the most basic concepts, allowing us to make simple programs to communicate with a user and access resources such as libraries to process images for astronomical photo compositions. As a context, we will delve into some astronomical diagrams and concepts to which programming has contributed.

How to get there?

• By particular vehicle: From downtown Bogotá, take El Dorado Avenue (Calle 26) heading east. Turn left onto Carrera 5, and continue until you reach Calle 26B. The Planetarium is located at number 5 – 93. Public parking is available nearby, such as at Independence Park and surrounding areas.
• By TransMilenio: Take the TransMilenio line and get off at the Museo Nacional station (Avenida Carrera 7 con Calle 28). From there, walk south along Carrera 7 to Calle 26B and turn left; the Planetarium is a few blocks away. Another option is to get off at the Calle 34 station and walk east on Calle 34 to Carrera 5, then turn right to Calle 26B.
• By SITP: You can take SITP routes that run along Carrera 7, Carrera 5, or Calle 26. Some of the routes that pass near the Planetarium include A124, A215, A501, A601, C131, C151, H131, H601, T25, and T40. Get off at nearby stops such as Br. La Alameda (Avenida Carrera 13—Calle 23) or Planetario De Bogotá (Avenida Carrera 7—Calle 27), and walk a few minutes to the Planetarium.
